What is Hachette Speakers Bureau?

Hachette Speakers Bureau (HSB) represents authors with books published by Hachette Book Group (HBG) for select paid speaking engagements around the world. We bring speakers who are experts in their fields to a wide range of audiences. HSB helps all types of organizations find the perfect speaker for in-person or virtual events, including conferences, keynotes, lecture series, library visits, convocations, First Year Experience events, community reads, school visits, and more. We are the liaison between the speaker and the hosting organization, helping every step of the way with event management.

We’re here to help! Our team has over a decade of experience working seamlessly with event planners who are new to the process of booking a speaker. If you need help brainstorming ideas, we can suggest speakers who would be a good fit for your theme, audience, and budget. If you have someone in mind, we can share your invitation with them. From there, we’ll guide you through the entire event process and answer your questions along the way. The success of your event is important to us, and we value your partnership. We’re here to make the process of hosting a speaker a delightful and stress-free experience.

Every speaker has their own unique fee or honorarium, and these costs can vary based on different factors including the location of your event and what’s expected of them. We represent speakers in all price ranges and we’re happy to help you find a speaker that fits your budget. In most cases, the cost of travel expenses are on top of the fee or honorarium. We know most events don’t have unlimited budgets, so we can work with you to set reasonable expectations and provide cost-conscious suggestions where applicable. There are no additional costs to event planners when working with HSB.

Based on their availability, most of our speakers are happy to make time to connect with you via either phone or email to discuss your event. Our team can help put you in touch when the time’s right. If a speaker is not available, we can work with you to ensure that any information you’d like to convey is shared with them prior to their arrival. Our speakers work hard to tailor their remarks specifically to your audience, making for personal, impactful, and unforgettable experiences – and having context or guidance from you is always appreciated.

Absolutely! A book signing can elevate a speaking event into an even more memorable one. Let’s discuss how best to incorporate a signing into your event. We can also help you order books at a special discounted rate or connect you with a local bookseller who will handle all the details of having books available for sale and signing at your event. Please note that our speakers don’t bring or sell their own books at events. It’s the hosting organization’s responsibility – but we can help make it a smooth process. 

HSB will be happy to advise whether a speaker is available for additional activities and what might be possible. Let’s discuss what you have in mind as early in the process as possible and we’ll share more information so you can plan accordingly.
